Event Overview
The Way Too Cool 50K is an annual trail running event held in Cool, California. Now in its 36th year, the event features a course known for its rolling hills, creek crossings, and views of the Northern California landscape. The trails used for the competition are maintained with the support of the Western States Endurance Run Foundation and the California Forest Foundation.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 50 km
- 10 mile
The 50 km route is a well-established ultramarathon that attracts both experienced trail runners and those new to the distance. The 10 mile trail run serves as a shorter alternative through the same rugged terrain, designed to accommodate a variety of participants.
The event operations are supported by approximately two hundred volunteers. Aid stations are positioned along the course to assist runners during the race. After completing the run, participants receive a meal that includes soup and a frog cupcake.
Live tracking and results are available for the event, along with a livestream featuring footage from the 8-mile mark and the finish line. Registration is managed through a lottery or open registration system on dedicated platforms. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
