Wawayanda Trail Fest
Wawayanda Trail Fest is a trail running event at Wawayanda State Park with multiple distance options. The event uses the boat ramp / boathouse parking area in Hewitt, New Jersey, as the main site and start/finish area.
Distances offered:
- 100K
- 50 Mile
- 50K
- Half Marathon
The course is built around a unique full loop of just over 26 miles. The loop winds through the hills of northern New Jersey and has only two road crossings inside the park. Trail terrain includes rhododendron tunnels, marsh bridges, gravel roads and single track, plus sections with trees, lake views, rocks and bridges. Route assignments: the Half Marathon follows one loop (about 13 to 14 miles), the 50K follows the full loop, the 50 Mile combines two full loops plus an additional south loop, and the 100K is two full loops.
Aid stations are located on course with three named locations: Maraschino, BaseCamp and Thirsty Dog (water only). Maraschino is about seven miles into the first loop and does not permit crews, spectators or drop bags. BaseCamp sits at the start/finish and parking area and is the designated spot for crews, pacers and spectators. The event reports a variety of food and hydration options and provides volunteer-supported aid stations.
Camping is permitted onsite the night before the race for a fee. Every finisher receives a finisher award and top awards are given for Non‑Binary, Female and Male first through third places in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
