Event Overview
The Wawayanda Trail Fest is a trail running event held at Wawayanda State Park in Hewitt, New Jersey. The event features four race distances: a 100K, a 50 Mile, a 50K, and a Half Marathon. The course consists of a unique 26+ mile loop that winds through the hills of northern New Jersey with only two road crossings, both located within the park. The terrain includes rhododendron tunnels, marsh bridges, gravel roads, and single track trails.
Course Details
- Half Marathon: One loop, approximately 13-14 miles.
- 50K: One full loop.
- 50 Mile: Two full loops plus a south loop.
- 100K: Two full loops.
Course routes and maps are available online. The event is centered around the main event site at the Wawayanda State Park Boat Launch, with parking and the start/finish line located there.
Aid Stations & Support
There are three aid stations on the course: Maraschino, BaseCamp, and Thirsty Dog (water only). BaseCamp is located at the start/finish area and is the designated location for crews, pacers, and spectators. Aid stations typically provide electrolyte hydration, fruit, sandwiches, potatoes, pretzels, chips, candy, and hot food options, with vegan and gluten-free choices available. Pacers are allowed for the 50K, 50 Mile, and 100K distances, starting at specific points in the race. Crews are only permitted at the BaseCamp aid station.
Additional Information
On-site camping is available for a fee on the Friday night before the race. Every finisher receives an award, with top awards presented to the first, second, and third place finishers in non-binary, female, and male categories for each distance.
