Water Gap 50k and Half

The event offers two distances held near Milford, Pennsylvania, using the McDade Trail corridor along the Delaware River. Distances:

  • 50K
  • 25K

The course is an out-and-back staged at Smithfield Beach with a short loop around the parking area before joining the McDade Trail. The trail surface is primarily rail-trail cinder with some singletrack. The route is described as non-technical and rolling, mainly flat. The course is marked with pink survey flags; markings are sparser on open trail and denser at turns. A full briefing is given on race morning.

There are three aid stations on course offering standard ultra fare and a limited selection of Huma gels. This is a cupless course, so runners should bring their own cup; a few cups may be available for sale at the start. Bib numbers are tracked at every aid station.

Turnaround procedures: 50K runners pick up a poker chip at the turnaround and must bring it to the finish. The 25K turnaround is at the second aid station; the 25K course is noted as slightly long. Drop bags may be left for both distances at Bushkill Access and are collected after the final runner clears that location.

Post-race provisions include tacos with chicken or tofu options, potatoes, and a black bean salad. Results are posted by Sunday night or sooner. The event policy allows deferral credits up to eight weeks before the race, with limited exceptions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
