About the race

The Water Gap event on September 26, 2026 takes place in Milford, PA and is organized by Happily Running. It offers the following distances:

  • 50K
  • 25K

The course is an out-and-back from Smithfield Beach on the McDade Trail, which runs along the Delaware River framed by high hills. The trail surface is mainly rail-trail cinder with some singletrack; terrain is non-technical, rolling, and mainly flat. The route is marked with pink survey flags that are sparser on open stretches and denser at turns. Runners receive a full pre-race briefing.

The 50K turnaround requires picking up a poker chip and bringing it to the finish. The 25K turnaround is at the second aid station; the 25K course is noted as slightly long. There are three aid stations on course and bib numbers are tracked at each station, so runners should call out their bib as they arrive. This is a cupless course; participants should bring a personal cup. A limited number of cups may be available for sale at the start.

Drop bag service is available at Bushkill Access for 50K runners and at the 8.5-mile turnaround for 25K runners; bags are marked with bib number and last name and are returned after the final runner clears Bushkill. Post-race food includes tacos, potatoes, and a black bean salad. Entry fees listed range from USD 71.56 to 103.43. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
