Venue and Setting
XTERRA New Jersey takes place in Stokes State Forest, located in Sandyston, New Jersey. The venue features singletrack trails, rolling terrain, and dense hardwood forest. The swimming portions of the multi-sport events are held in Robert Rooke Lake, a calm, spring-fed body of water. The multi-sport disciplines are sanctioned by USA Triathlon, while the trail running events are USA Track & Field Certified.
Available Races
The event offers a variety of off-road multi-sport, trail running, and mountain biking options. The individual race choices include:
- Trail Marathon (42 km) and Trail Half Marathon (21 km) World Championship qualifiers
- Trail runs of 5 km and 11 km
- Mountain bike options including a 3 hour endurance race, a 21 km race, and a 12 km race
- Full Distance Triathlon with a 1000 m swim, 22 km bike, and 10 km run
- Sprint Triathlon with a 500 m swim, 12 km bike, and 5 km run
- Paddle Adventure Triathlon with a 2000 m paddle, 12 km bike, and 5 km run
- Duathlon with a 5 km run, 12 km bike, and 10 km run
Regulations and Logistics
Participants in the cycling segments must use a mountain bike, as gravel bikes are not permitted due to rocky sections on the course. For the paddle triathlon, a fleet of kayaks and stand-up paddleboards is available for rental during registration.
The event utilizes ankle chips for electronic timing, tracking five separate splits for multi-sport athletes. On-site accommodation is available via group camping sites suitable for tents, cars, trucks, and vans. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
