Wild Goose Trail Festival
The Wild Goose Trail Festival takes place at Wawayanda State Park in Hewitt, NJ and spans the weekend of September 19–20, 2026, with additional programming on the preceding Friday. The event offers trail races across several distances, panels, a film screening, and free camping for participants, pacers, and crew on Friday and Saturday evenings. The festival partners with Bigger Than The Trail, a nonprofit that uses trail running to advocate for mental health and provides free therapy through fundraising.
Course terrain includes doublewide trails, rolling singletrack, technical sections with rocks and roots, wood plank boardwalks and short stretches of road. For the 100 mile course the total elevation is listed as 11,275 ft gain and 11,239 ft loss, averaging about 112 ft gain per mile. The 100 mile option is supported by an aid station open throughout the 36 hour cutoff and has a single cutoff at mile 92.5. Runners on longer distances who are on course after sunset may use a pacer; pacers are not allowed for the shorter distances.
The festival includes community-focused programs such as hardship entries, the Trail Mix Fund for waived registrations, discounts for certain groups, and a volunteer requirement for some long-distance entries.
