Water of Leith Half
The Water of Leith Half is a point-to-point half marathon (13.1 miles) that follows the Water of Leith from just outside Balerno to Coalhill in Leith, Edinburgh. The start is located on a farm track off Harlow Road and the finish is at Coalhill, Leith.
The route is mostly off-road, well marked, and marshalled at key road crossings. Roads are not closed to traffic, so runners must remain alert where the route meets public roads. The event is run as a handicapped race with runners starting in waves based on expected finish times.
The field is intentionally small, with a maximum of 200 runners. Entries carry an entry fee of £25 with an optional £1 donation to the Water of Leith Conservation Trust. The event includes chip timing, a medal for all finishers, marshals at key points, and a bag drop at Leith. There is an optional coach transfer from the finish back to the start.
Fundraising from the event benefits the Water of Leith Conservation Trust. Volunteer places are offered with the possibility to guarantee a future race place for those who volunteer in the specified year. The race is currently full. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
