Lomonds of Fife Hill Race

The Lomonds of Fife Hill Race is scheduled for 15 August 2026. The route is a long hill race of 26.07km with 1438m of ascent and is classified as Category AL. The organiser, Lomond Hill Runners, updated the course to extend the previous medium route into a longer route that covers much of the historic Devil's Burdens race area.

The course crosses varied terrain and takes in key features of the Lomonds, including East Lomond (visited twice at start and finish) and West Lomond, and goes up the area known as the bum slide from the Bunnet Stane. The route follows designated checkpoints and includes areas where runners may choose different lines; a recommended route is provided and a GPX file is available from the organiser's website. The route will not be waymarked between checkpoints, so navigational experience is important. To meet farmer requests, some livestock areas are strictly no go and are marked in red on the event map.

Mandatory kit to meet insurance requirements includes full waterproof body cover, hat, gloves, fluids and food; a map and compass are also required. There are two drinks stations en route. Prizes are awarded for senior first place, second and third, and first in V40, V50 and V60 plus categories. The event is likely to be held on a bi-annual basis, and entries are non-refundable with proceeds going to local causes. The event has a total capacity of 200 places and the entry status is listed as open. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
