Kinross Show Hill Race - 8 August 2026

The inaugural Kinross Show Hill Race takes place during the Kinross Show on 8 August 2026. The course is approximately 2.3 miles with about 750 ft of total ascent and follows a majority pathless route that is not normally open to the public. The terrain includes rough ground and technical descents and features repeated climbs and descents.

The course starts in the centre of the show and finishes next to the bar. Marshals will be positioned at key points, but runners are expected to navigate themselves on the hill. In line with race insurance requirements, runners must carry standard hill running kit: map, whistle and compass. A route map will be made available on the Scottish Hill Runners website before the event.

The event is organised by Kinross Road Runners and insured by Scottish Hill Runners. Entry is open to all runners aged 16 or over on the day. Entry for runners includes free access to the Kinross Show and use of parking facilities; supporters should obtain show tickets separately. The show features stalls, livestock, tractors, food vendors, live music and a bar.

Prizes will be awarded to the first male and first female finishers and to the fastest male and female teams. Teams are made up of three runners. There are no age category prizes at this inaugural event. Transfers to another runner are allowed up to the closing date; refunds and deferrals are not available. Registration takes place in the show bar area and a kit check is required to collect race numbers. Total places are limited to 100. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
