Vernal Equinox is a multi-distance ultrarunning event held on the grounds of Majestic Farm in Batavia, Ohio. The course is a 2-mile loop that runs through wooded trails, meadows, and sections of gravel road, with a large barn at the start/finish area of each loop.
The event offers the following timed options:
- 48 Hour
- 24 Hour
- 12 Hour
- 8 Hour
Vernal Equinox will operate as a cupless race; each participant receives a reusable cup and aid stations will not supply paper cups. Aid stations provide typical ultrarunning food, hot items such as soup and grilled cheese, fresh coffee, and vegan options. Clean horse stalls are available free for storage and napping; stalls can be shared and priority placement is given to longer-distance runners. RV hookups are available for a fee.
The race includes a rucker division with specified minimum dry weights based on body weight. An Athletes With Disability (AWD) division is offered for visually impaired and mobility impaired athletes who can run or walk the course; tethers and leg prosthetics may be used, but the course is not suitable for wheelchairs. Pacers are allowed only after the shorter events conclude. The event awards cash prizes for new 24- and 48-hour course records and presents custom finisher awards and commemorative apparel.
