Powder Keg Trail Run - Carter Park

Powder Keg is part of the Dirt Days Trail Series and takes place on August 22, 2026 at Carter Park, 1720 King Ave, Kings Mills, OH. The event is the sixth leg of the series and is presented by Deerfield Township and The Arts Alliance.

The course uses the trails around the Historic Kings Mansion. The loop descends toward the Little Miami River, follows the old abandoned King Road, passes an old dam, and includes a climb known locally as the "Stairway to Heaven." The route continues through north-side park trails and around nearby ball fields. Race distance is listed as 3.5 miles; actual mileage may vary.

Logistics and amenities include ample free parking at the adjacent school, online registration only, and a registration fee of $23.50 with a $5 discount for children 14 and under. Short sleeved event T-shirts are available for $12 while supplies last. Awards include overall male and female runner and walker honors plus age group awards presented after the race. Randomly drawn door prizes are offered and winners must be present to accept them. There is no paper registration and no early packet pick up for this event. A mission-oriented obstacle course weekend in Southern Ohio on June 27-28, 2026 featuring a 1.5-mile Battle Challenge with a live fire range, a 3k speed OCR, large water slides, mud rig obstacles and championship-level course elements.

A 30K trail race at Mount Airy Forest in Cincinnati made of three 10K loops. Finishers receive a t-shirt and medal; the race counts toward the Alpine Trail Race Series and awards series points.

A backyard ultra at Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio where runners complete 4.1667 mile loops each hour until one remains, with traditional last runner standing and fixed 12 hour and 24 hour options.

A Score-O orienteering event on 28 June 2026 in Camden, Ohio, hosted by the Miami Valley Orienteering Club. Participants use map and compass to collect controls within a two hour limit; maps, chip timing, and loaner compasses are provided.
