Steel City 12 Hour Run & Ruck

The Steel City 12 hour event takes place August 1 to 2, 2026 at Smith Park, 500 Tytus Avenue, Middletown, Ohio. It is a timed 12 hour run and ruck where participants complete as many laps as possible on a 1.52 mile looped course.

The course follows a paved path around Smith Park, is described as very flat, and runs alongside Middletown Regional Airport. Timing is chip based and managed by Brunning Endurance Company. There is a single aid station at the start and finish area stocked with water, infinite, vegetable soup, bacon at midnight, coffee at 3am and donuts at 5am. Participants may bring a canopy and personal aid to set up along the course.

Ruck participants must carry a minimum of 25 pounds; packs are weighed at registration at the start and at the finish. A backpack style ruck is required to be eligible for ruck awards; vests are not permitted for award eligibility.

Entry fee is stated as 60 dollars per participant. Race shirts are available for 25 dollars if purchased before July 10. Participants must be at least 16 years old; those under 18 must have a guardian present.

Student crafted finisher awards are given for completion of set distances, and top place awards are presented to male and female runners and ruckers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
