Valkyrie Trail Race
The Valkyrie Trail Race is a women-focused event held in Colorado Springs at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. The course features a variety of terrain types, beginning on smooth crushed limestone paths through open meadows before transitioning to winding singletrack trails. Runners navigate pine-shaded canyons, rocky technical paths, and climbs that lead toward the rugged ridgelines of Cheyenne Mountain.
The event offers several trail distances:
- 50K (4259 ft elevation gain)
- Marathon (3586 ft elevation gain)
- 30K (2470 ft elevation gain)
- Half Marathon (1791 ft elevation gain)
- 8 Mile (1129 ft elevation gain)
- 4 Mile (433 ft elevation gain)
This is a cupless event, meaning participants must bring their own reusable cups or hydration systems to use at the water dispensers located at the start, finish, and aid stations. Registration fees include entry to the State Park, a custom race shirt, and a finisher's medal. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at a local running store or at the finish line on the morning of the event. To receive a packet, runners must present a photo ID. While runners may collect the shirt and bag of an absent participant, they are not permitted to pick up another person's bib. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
