The course begins in open meadows on crushed limestone before transitioning to winding singletrack that climbs toward ridgelines. Runners travel through pine shaded canyons and rocky, technical sections while passing viewpoints typical of Cheyenne Mountain in spring.

Elevation varies by distance; the course lowest elevation is 6017 feet and the highest point reaches 6873 feet. Total elevation gain is listed by distance, with the largest reported gain 4259 feet for the 50K and smaller gains for shorter distances.

Aid stations operate cupless; participants are expected to use reusable cups or personal reservoirs. Water dispensers are available at the start and finish area and at every aid station to refill bottles and bladders. Registration includes access to Cheyenne Mountain State Park, a custom race shirt, and a finisher medal. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Colorado Running Company in Colorado Springs.
