24 Hours of Palmer Lake
24 Hours of Palmer Lake is a 24 hour endurance run held in Palmer Lake, Colorado, on a 0.82 mile loop course. The loop sits on the Palmer Divide and is surrounded by mountains at an elevation of 7,240 feet. The event is organized as a low fanfare, community driven gathering focused on continuous running over a 24 hour period.
Runners may choose different goals during the event, including competing for the greatest distance covered in 24 hours, attempting a 100 mile finish, or testing pacing and nutrition strategies. Awards are given to the top three overall finishers by distance covered in the 24 hour period. The first ten runners who reach 100 miles or more within 24 hours will receive a buckle onsite; additional qualifiers will receive a buckle a few weeks after the event.
A portion of each registration fee is donated to local parks; five dollars from every registration is designated for the Palmer Lake Parks Committee. The event does not offer refunds, though the organizers may provide a credit toward the following year with at least a couple of weeks notice if a participant cannot attend.
