Greenland Open Space Pack Burro Race
The event is the 4th annual Greenland Open Space Pack Burro Race held at Greenland Open Space Trail in Larkspur, Colorado. The race offers two distances:
- 8 Mile
- 3 Mile
Entry requires payment of the fee set by the race director and the fee is not refundable. Runners must be at least 14 years old on race day. No race day registration will be available. The event is limited to a maximum of 75 participants. Registration windows and fees are set by the organizer.
Teams consist of one person and one burro. Entrants are strongly encouraged to secure a burro partner before registering. To register a burro, participants must create a donkey team and add a password protected burro name; a runner may not add a burro without the password. For the 8 Mile division, teams must wear pack saddles carrying a pick, pan, and shovel to qualify for top prizes; WPBA guidelines apply. Pack saddles are optional for the 3 Mile division.
Animal welfare and safety rules apply. A veterinarian or race director may disqualify an animal that does not meet the burro definition or is sick, injured, or mistreated. No intact jacks are permitted. Runners are responsible for safe handling, must keep burros under control, carry recommended supplies, and follow the marked route. Current health certificates and coggins are required for out-of-state donkeys. Limited camping is available near the starting area. All participants will receive a participation gift.
