Urban Night Series - Winter Series

Halifax, United Kingdom • 3 Dec 2025

Event overview

Urban Night Series - Winter Series is a set of four evening orienteering challenges run in Halifax with HQ at Dukes Bar, 16-18 Market St, Russel St, HX1 1NX. The season comprises four events on 15 October 2025, 3 December 2025, 14 January 2026 and 25 February 2026. Participants may enter individual nights or the whole series; the series maintains a running scoreboard and crowns series champions after the final event.

Format and scoring

Events are one-hour challenges. Competitors run solo or in teams of two and try to visit as many checkpoints as possible; each checkpoint scores points once. Results are recorded through the iOrienteering app, which logs checkpoint visits and uploads results after the finish. Series scoring awards points for finishing positions (1st = 25, 2nd = 18, 3rd = 15, down to 1 point for 10th) with +1 for finishers outside the top 10. The best three results count toward the series and the final event carries double points. Each week one Strava segment is live and fastest male and female on that segment receive a weekly crown. Tiebreakers include most wins, higher position in the final event, head-to-head record and fastest single race time.

Practical information

Entry is priced at £5 per person for pre-entry and £6 on the night, per event. A map is provided on the night. Participants should have a headtorch or flashlight, suitable city running kit and mobile data or Wi-Fi to sync results. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
