The Manchester to Liverpool Ultra 50 takes place on Good Friday, 3 April 2026. The race distance is 50 miles with total elevation of 123 m. The event is limited to 750 places and has a 14-hour overall cut-off. It is held under a UKA permit and gives UTMB performance index and ITRA points. The 2026 race is sold out.

Course, support and rules

The route follows the Trans-Pennine Trail, the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey from Manchester to Liverpool. The race uses a mass start at IWM North in Manchester and finishes at North End Sports & Social Club (British Railway Club) in Liverpool. There are six checkpoints providing refreshments, basic food, and medical cover. Live online GPS tracking is provided by the organiser. Mandatory kit must be carried and includes a waterproof coat with sealed seams, a long-sleeved base layer, at least 1 litre water capacity, a foil blanket, two headtorches, a whistle, a fully charged mobile phone in waterproof covering and the event GPS tracker. Entrants must be at least 20 years old and must have completed an organised marathon with an official result prior to the event. Support runners and pacers are not permitted; some checkpoints restrict support-crew access. Optional services include a labelled dropbag and pre-booked post-race coach transport back to the start. Montane Winter Spine is a non stop 268 mile winter ultra along the Pennine Way from Edale to Kirk Yetholm with a 168 hour cutoff. Limited to 150 runners, it demands serious fitness and winter mountain experience.

The Trigger Fell Race is a tough 33 km fell run across Black Hill, Bleaklow and Kinder from Marsden to Edale in the Peak District, climbing 1650 m. Entries are limited and profits go to Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team.

Run Delamere Forest on 11 January 2026 across wide trails and singletrack, mostly flat with a final climb up Old Pale. Pick the 10 km or 13.1 mile route and enjoy electronic timing, finish drinks and a custom finisher's medal.

Take on The Lamb's Longer Leg in Hayfield, Peak District on Sunday 11 Jan 2026, a scenic but testing 5 km course with 305 m of climb. Entry is by pre entry only and parking is limited; teams are welcome.
