Tunnel Vision - Market Harborough

Petzl Tunnel Vision

Petzl Tunnel Vision is a running event in Market Harborough that features an out and back course measuring 5 miles. The race offers two distinct sessions: a Night Run held on a Thursday evening and a Dawn Run held on a Friday morning. Participants have the option to enter a single race or compete in both sessions.

The course utilizes a hard-packed track surface and is suitable for both road and trail shoes. A central feature of the route is the Oxendon Tunnel, a former railway tunnel measuring 422 meters in length. While the organizers provide mood lighting within the tunnel, it remains primarily dark with a surface that includes ruts and puddles, making a head torch or handheld torch a requirement for all runners.

The event is open to competitors aged 14 and older. Registration and kit collection, including timing chips and race numbers, are available at the Harborough Leisure Centre on the Wednesday prior to the event, or at the race site on the day of the runs. Free parking is available at the nearby leisure centre.

All finishers receive a medal. For those completing both the Night and Dawn runs, the medals are designed to interlink. Participants are provided with refreshments after their run, such as biscuits and hot drinks for evening runners, or juice and croissants for morning runners. Professional first aid and volunteers are stationed throughout the course, including at the tunnel entrance and the turnaround point.
