Tunnel Vision night run Market Harborough
The Petzl Tunnel Vision event in Market Harborough comprises two runs held across consecutive days: a Night Run and a Dawn Run. Both are out and back races covering a distance of 5 miles, which pass through the Oxendon Tunnel, an old railway tunnel measuring 422 m in length. The tunnel is dark inside and will have mood lighting; participants are required to use a headtorch or small handheld torch.
The surface for the route is hard packed track, suitable for road or trail shoes. Inside the tunnel the surface is uneven with ruts and puddles. On-course support includes Race Harborough volunteers at the tunnel entrance and at the turn-around point, and professional first aid cover with access to runners on the course. Petzl will be present during both runs to discuss and demonstrate headlamps.
All finishers receive a specially commissioned event medal and the top three male and female finishers receive prizes. Medals from the two runs interlink if a competitor completes both events. Refreshments are provided at finish lines: after the Night Run a hot drink and biscuits; after the Dawn Run a carton of orange juice and a croissant. Free digital race photos are made available after the event.
Entries cost £23 for a single race or £40 for both. The minimum age is 14 years. Entries and transfers close seven days before the event. Pre-event number collection is available at Harborough Leisure Centre on the day before the races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
