Event overview
The Foxton Hound Ultra is scheduled for Saturday 15 August 2026 with Race HQ at Winwick Hall, Winwick, Northamptonshire. It offers two distances:
- 100k
- 50k
Both routes follow much of the Harborough Round and use sections of long-distance footpaths including the Jurassic Way, Leicestershire Round, Macmillan Way, Midshires Way, Richard the Third Trail and the Uppingham Round. The course passes through villages and points of interest such as Houghton on the Hill, West Haddon, Coton, Stoke Albany, Foxton Locks, the Naseby Battlefield and the Kelmarsh Tunnel on the Brampton Valley Way. The races are licensed by the TRA and will be held under UKA rules.
Logistics, support and kit
Entries are listed at £75 for the 100k and £50 for the 50k; minimum entry age is 20 years. The 100k has an overall cut-off of 18 hours with progressive checkpoint cut-offs from Checkpoint 3; the 50k has a 9-hour finish cut-off and no checkpoint cut-offs. Pacers are permitted on the 100k from Checkpoint 5. No crews or spectators are permitted in Cottesbrooke village or at the Elkington water station. There is parking at Race HQ.
On-course support includes professional first aid at start and finish, volunteers at aid stations (7 for 100k; 3 for 50k) offering food, drink and vegetarian/vegan options, with hot food and hot drinks at Checkpoint 4 and Checkpoint 7 on the 100k. Free guided recces are provided and GPX files and written route instructions are available. Mandatory kit includes a fully charged mobile phone, water capacity of at least 1 litre, survival blanket, head torch with spare batteries (essential for Kelmarsh Tunnel), waterproof jacket, whistle, long-sleeved base layer or fleece, and a personal cup; reflective top/bands and hat and gloves are required for the 100k. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and all finishers receive a commissioned event medal. Free race photos will be available after the event.
