Event Overview

The Foxton Hound Ultra offers two distances: a 100k and a 50k. Both routes follow the Harborough Round long-distance footpath through the countryside and villages around Market Harborough in Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.

The Course and Navigation

The routes pass places of historical interest, including Foxton Locks, the Naseby Battle Field, and the Kelmarsh Tunnel on the Brampton Valley Way. The courses intersect with several other long-distance footpaths. The routes will be marked, but runners are expected to be prepared for self-navigation. GPX files and written route instructions are available for download.

Event Support

There will be 7 checkpoints/aid stations on the 100k course and 3 on the 50k course. These provide hydration, nutrition, and snacks. Hot food and drinks are available at specific checkpoints on the 100k route. Professional first aid is present at the start and finish, with access to the course. The event offers free guided route recces before race day.

Rules and Requirements

The event is licensed by the TRA and held under UKA rules. The minimum age for entry is 20. There is an 18-hour cut-off for the 100k and a 9-hour cut-off for the 50k. Pacers are allowed, but only from a specific checkpoint on the 100k route. Crew and spectator access is restricted in certain locations. Entries close 7 days before the event.

Mandatory Kit

All runners must carry specific mandatory kit, including a mobile phone, water container, survival blanket, head torch, waterproof jacket, whistle, long-sleeved base layer, and their own cup. This trail running event in Bedfordshire offers 25km and 50km distances through scenic, runnable terrain. It's a UTMB Index event, starting from Harrold. Finishers receive a medal to commemorate their achievement.

UTMB Index

The Hannington Hike is a challenge walking event through varied countryside like the Chilterns. Organized by a local walking group, it's open to all. It's one of several annual challenge events they host.

Tackle a rugged 6 mile off road cross country at Manor House Farm in Hardwick near Aylesbury on 22 March 2026. Limited to 300 runners, the undulating farm route crosses fields, streams and tracks and finishes with hot drinks and a memento.

Experience a 10k night trail run through Salcey Forest, where a head torch is mandatory. Petzl will be on site with demo head torches to test. A separate canicross start is also available for those running with their dog.
