Foxton Hound Ultra - Race Harborough
The Foxton Hound Ultra is a weekend trail event on Saturday 15th August 2026 offering two distances:
- 100k
- 50k
Both routes run through countryside and villages around Market Harborough and follow large sections of the Harborough Round and other long-distance paths, including the Jurassic Way, the Leicestershire Round, the Macmillan Way, the Midshires Way, the Richard the Third Trail and the Uppingham Round. The course passes Houghton on the Hill, West Haddon, Coton, Stoke Albany, Foxton Locks, the Naseby Battlefield and the Kelmarsh Tunnel on the Brampton Valley Way. The start and finish are at Winwick Hall, where parking is available.
The races are licensed by the TRA and held under UKA rules. Entry fees are £75 for the 100k and £50 for the 50k, with a £2 discount for members of clubs affiliated to UK Athletics. Minimum age for entry is 20 years on race day. The 100k has an 18-hour overall cut-off with progressive checkpoint cut-offs from Checkpoint 3; the 50k has a 9-hour finish cut-off and no checkpoint cut-offs. Pacers are permitted on the 100k from Checkpoint 5. Crews and spectators are restricted at Cottesbrooke village and the Elkington water station.
Aid stations are provided (7 on the 100k, 3 on the 50k) with food, drinks and some hot options at specific checkpoints. Runners must carry mandatory kit such as a charged mobile, 1-litre water capacity, survival blanket, head torch, waterproof jacket, whistle, long-sleeved layer and a personal cup; reflective items and hat and gloves are required for the 100k. GPX files and written route instructions are available and runners are expected to be able to self-navigate. Free guided recces are offered ahead of the event. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race and all finishers receive an event medal. The event supports local foodbanks in 2026.
