Kingfisher Challenge

Coventry, United Kingdom • 30 Sep 2026

Event overview

The Kingfisher Challenge is a 6-hour trail running event at Coombe Abbey Park, Coventry (CV3 2AB). The event is scheduled for 30 September 2026 and is open to entrants aged 17 and over on that date. Participants complete repeated laps of a measured course during the six-hour time limit; the number of laps completed determines each participant’s total distance.

Course and logistics

The lap length is 3.3-mile. A marathon distance requires 8 laps and a half marathon requires 4 laps. The route is mostly on stone pathways with a meadow section on open grassland that may be muddy depending on recent weather. The park is managed by Coventry City Council and is on the outskirts of Coventry, about 6 minutes from Junction 2 of the M6; the nearest train station is Coventry. Parking on site costs up to £5 depending on stay length. A cafe and toilet block are located next to the event HQ. A GPX file of the route is available.

Entry, options and support

Entry fees are tiered so earlier entries are cheaper; unaffiliated entrants pay an extra £2. The event offers a choice of a physical medal or a Big Bear Tree Token; each tree token corresponds with a tree being planted and contains wildflower seeds. The event is suitable for rucking. The event partners with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and offers an optional fundraising or donation route during sign-up.
