Kingfisher Challenge : Coombe Abbey Park
The Kingfisher Challenge is a timed six-hour running event held at Coombe Abbey Park in Coventry, CV3 2AB. The venue is on the outskirts of Coventry, about six minutes from Junction 2 of the M6, with Coventry as the closest train station. On-site facilities include a cafe and a toilet block; parking is charged up to £5 depending on length of stay.
The event uses a loop course of approximately 3.3 miles. Participants may complete as many laps as they wish within the six-hour limit; one lap is roughly a 5k and multiple laps can equate to longer distances. Surface conditions are mostly stone pathways with a meadow section on open grassland that could be muddy depending on recent weather. Expect hard surfaces and substantial tree cover on the route.
Distances and lap equivalents:
- 3.3-mile lap (one lap is about 5k)
- Half marathon - 4 laps
- Marathon - 8 laps
Canicross competitors are permitted; dogs must be kept on short leads and be considerate of other runners. Canicross entrants should select the specific canicross race option. The event also accommodates rucking.
Entry pricing is tiered; example rates listed include £37 before 11/06/2025 and £42 after that date, with a £2 surcharge for unaffiliated entrants. There is a charity partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity offering optional fundraising or donations. An on-demand option is available to complete the route on another day with the event medal posted to the participant. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
