Both courses start opposite the village pavilion and immediately run uphill into the surrounding countryside. Routes use bridleways and footpaths with short sections on minor country roads; the final section from Kelmarsh back to Clipston is on a footpath. The half marathon route has a total height gain of 237 m. There are four water stations on the half route and one on the 5 miler; runners are asked to bring their own cup for refills. The event is organised with the Clipston Recreation Field Trust and funds raised support maintenance of the playing fields and facilities. All finishers receive a medal and a homemade cake provided by Clipston W.I. The course crosses working farms and is not suitable for canicross.
