Event Overview

The Clipston Trail Races consist of a half marathon and a 5-mile (ish) trail run. They take place on the trails in the countryside surrounding Clipston in Northamptonshire. The event is organized in conjunction with the Clipston Recreation Field Trust, a charity that maintains the local playing fields and facilities. Funds raised support the maintenance of these community facilities.

Race Distances

  • Half Marathon
  • Country 5 Miler

Course Details

Both races start opposite the pavilion at Clipston Recreation Ground. The courses immediately head uphill into the countryside, using bridleways, footpaths, and short sections on minor country roads. The half marathon route gains 237m in total elevation and offers views of the Northamptonshire countryside. The 5-mile route loops down to Kelmarsh and back. The final section from Kelmarsh to Clipston for the half marathon is on a footpath.

There is no cutoff time, but participants should expect to finish within 3.5 hours. The event is not suitable for canicross due to the route crossing many working farms.

On the Day

Free parking is available on-site in the field opposite the Recreation Ground. Race number and timing chip collection opens from 8 a.m. on race morning. To reduce environmental impact, participants are asked to bring their own cup for refilling at the water stations.

Prizes and Rewards

All finishers receive a medal and homemade cakes, which are provided by the local Clipston Women's Institute. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
