Race #1 Kuitpo Forest : Kuitpo Hall, Kuitpo SA
This trail running event takes place in Kuitpo Forest near the township of Meadows in the Mount Lofty Ranges. The reserve covers about 3,600 hectares of plantation and native bushland and is managed for sustainable commercial forestry, native flora and fauna conservation, and community recreation. The area was established as a plantation in 1898.
Courses run through a mix of scenic pine plantations and native bush, using wide forestry roads and some single tracks. The route description notes towering trees, the scent of pines, and the presence of bright red Amanita muscaria mushrooms in places. Event facilities include drink stations with water and lollies, well-marked courses, and medals awarded to placegetters. Participants must carry their own drinking container as cups are not supplied.
The event enforces course cutoffs and requires runners to stay ahead of course sweepers; published pace requirements apply for each distance. Walkers may participate only in the 11 km event to ensure return before course closure. A free kids cross-country run of about 1–1.5 km is provided near the finish area and is led by a TRSA committee member or delegate; adult accompaniment is preferred.
Parking may be restricted depending on entry numbers and ground conditions. Sponsor tents, post-run food such as fruit and brownies, and a members-only random draw are part of the event experience. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
