TrailFest - Salcey Forest

TrailFest at Salcey Forest takes place on 28 June 2026 at Salcey Forest, NN7 2HX, a Forestry England site near Northampton with a café and toilets. The event offers these distances:

  • 10K
  • Half marathon
  • Marathon
  • 50 km

The venue is accessible by the number 33 bus (service between Northampton and Milton Keynes). It is about 18 minutes from Northampton and near Junction 15 of the M1; the closest train station is Northampton. Pay-and-display parking applies (around £3.80 to £9).

The routes use similar forest sections and are mainly on well maintained pathways. Surfaces are crushed stone or well trodden forest floor and are hard packed for most of the route. There is no asphalt except two road crossings on the longer courses. If it has rained, some grassy sections may be soft. Road shoes are possible in typical conditions but a light trail shoe is suggested for the uneven, stony surface.

Rules, kit and pricing

This is a cupless event: aid stations provide no cups, so entrants must carry their own cup or bottle. For the 10K there is no mandatory kit, though a cup or bottle is strongly recommended. Half marathon, marathon and 50K entrants must carry a cup or bottle able to hold at least 200 ml. A foil blanket and a charged mobile phone are strongly advised. Pacers are not permitted to run alongside participants except in the final 100 m; crew and spectators are allowed but must not move along the trail.

Entries use tiered pricing (cheaper before 28/06/2026): 10K £20/£25, half marathon £35/£40, marathon £51/£56, 50K £62/£72. The event cut-off is 19:00 (the 50 km has an 11 hour cut-off).
