The Ultra Bird Trail Races and RUCK Challenge
The Ultra Bird Trail Races and RUCK Challenge take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Pigeon Creek County Park in West Olive, Michigan. The event supports the Egress Endurance Project, a nonprofit that uses outdoor movement and structured endurance challenges to help people in recovery from addiction.
Events use a roughly 5K loop on well groomed wooded trails. The loop features rolling terrain, one larger steady climb and a pronounced downhill, with roughly 165 feet of elevation gain per loop. All runners start and finish at the Pigeon Creek Ski Lodge.
Event options:
- 12-Hour Trail Race, distance is maximum miles completed within the time limit
- 6-Hour Trail Race, timed endurance race on singletrack
- 10K Trail Race on the looped course
- 5K Trail Race through wooded terrain
- 6-Hour RUCK Challenge, minimum 20 lb ruck or weighted vest required
- 3-Hour RUCK Challenge, shorter weighted endurance effort
On-course support includes a fully stocked aid station for timed events, hydration, pre-packaged trail food, a drop bag area and bathrooms at the start/finish. Parking is available on site within walking distance of the lodge. Pacers are permitted for the 12- and 6-hour events. Packet pick-up is held on race day at the lodge. The event is held rain or shine; there are no refunds, though bib transfers are allowed and price differences may apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
