Ultra Bird Trail Races & RUCK Challenge
The Ultra Bird Trail Races & RUCK Challenge take place on October 10, 2026 at Pigeon Creek County Park in West Olive, Michigan. The event features timed trail running and rucking options and benefits the Egress Endurance Project, a nonprofit that uses outdoor endurance and community to support people recovering from addiction.
Event options include:
- 12 hour Trail Race
- 6 hour Trail Race
- 10K Trail Race
- 5K Trail Race
- 6 hour RUCK Challenge (minimum 20 lb ruck or weighted vest)
- 3 hour RUCK Challenge (minimum 20 lb ruck or weighted vest)
All events use a roughly 5K loop that starts and finishes at the Pigeon Creek Ski Lodge. The loop runs on well groomed wooded trails with rolling terrain, peak fall color, one larger steady climb and a significant downhill. Elevation gain per loop is around 165 ft. The looped format provides frequent aid station access, space for crew support, and opportunities for spectators to view the course.
On-site parking is available within walking distance of the lodge. There will be an aid station at the start/finish with hydration and prepackaged snacks, a drop bag area, and lodge bathrooms. Participants may set up tents or personal aid stations along the first 0.25 plus miles in a designated area called Tent City on a first come basis. Pacers are allowed for the 12 hour and 6 hour events. Packet pick-up is held on race day at the Pigeon Creek Lodge. The park remains open to the public during the event and trails will be marked.
