Course, services and rules

The route follows riverside cycle ways and paths, including Hadrian's Way and Keelman's Way, passing Bywell and Stocksfield Cricket Club before returning to Newcastle. Terrain is mainly hard-packed cycle ways with some gravel footpaths and occasional dirt trails; the route is described as suitable for road shoes unless wet. The event is fully way-marked and includes first aid cover.

There is a generous overall time limit of 10 hrs. Participants receive a stamped Brevet card at the start and at event controls as proof of passage, and all finishers receive a Wildflower medal. Water and snacks are provided at Wylam (around miles 10 and 22) and a free halfway buffet is available at Stocksfield Cricket Club (around mile 16). The organiser advises participants to carry their own hydration, nutrition, and necessary equipment. Parking is available at the start and the venue is accessible by public transport.
