Tidal Trails - South Shields

Tidal Trails is a beach and trail running event scheduled for 16 August 2026 on the South Shields coastline. The main course is an off-road trail that starts and finishes on the beach and climbs onto the grass of the Leas above the waves.

Available running options include:

  • 8 km trail run, starts and finishes on the beach and reaches the Leas grass
  • 2 km short course for beginners and younger runners

The event also features a Super Sand Sprint for barefoot running across the sand and a Families on Track continuous relay designed for family teams and mixed ages. An Event Village operates throughout the day with live entertainment from the Tidal Trails stage, beach games and activities, and food and drink concessions.
