Summit 200
The Summit 200 is a single 200-mile loop around Summit County, Colorado, held on National Forest lands and Summit County lands. The course uses hiking trails, 4WD roads, and recreational paths. The majority of the route is single-track trail and infrequently traveled forest roads.
The route stays at high elevation: the lowest points are above 9,000 ft and some sections exceed 12,700 ft. Over the course of the event runners accumulate about 40,000 ft of climbing. The event includes long stretches without aid and a total cutoff of 110 hours.
Support and logistics include 12 full aid stations, four sleep stations, drop bag locations, live GPS tracking with a provided device, and made-to-order hot food at most aid stations with vegan options. The race limits the field to 75 runners for the 2026 edition, with the possibility of increasing to 100. Only the 200-mile distance is offered; entry requires a previous 100-mile finish.
A deferral policy specifies credit amounts based on timing: 100% credit 90 days prior, 75% at 60 days, 50% at 30 days, and 25% at 15 days. Deferral credit is valid for three years, cannot be transferred or gifted, and no refunds are offered. Professional photography and finisher items such as a buckle and a year-specific jacket patch are provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
