Event

Run the Rockies Trail is a trail race in Frisco, Colorado, held on the Frisco Peninsula trails with views of Dillon Reservoir and the Ten Mile Range. Distances offered are:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • Half marathon

Racers start and finish at the Frisco Nordic Center. The courses use single-track and dirt-road trails and include a lakeshore finish for all distances. For 2026 the Perimeter Trail will be run counter clockwise and new single-track sections will be included for the half marathon.

Registration, services and rules

Pre-registration for 2026 opens February 6, 2026 and closes August 6, 2026 at noon; if the event does not sell out, limited day-of registration may be available at packet pick-up. Registration options include choices with or without a registration gift; a hat is guaranteed only for racers who register before July 1, 2026. Registration fees vary by distance and age group.

Races are chip-timed by a professional timing service. The cut-off time for both the 10k and the half marathon is 10:30am; anyone not finished by that time will not receive an official time. Aid stations: the 10k has two (miles 1.4 and 3.9), the half marathon has three (miles 3.1, 8.3, 10.9), and the 5k has none. Aid stations provide water, electrolyte mix, fruit and packaged snacks; hand sanitizer is available. The race takes place on public Town of Frisco/US Forest Service trails; strollers and pets are not allowed.
