Byers Peak Stampede Half Marathon & 5K Run

The event offers two chip-timed races held near Fraser, Colorado: a half marathon and a 5K. Both courses take place primarily on unpaved surfaces, including dirt roads and trails.

The half marathon is a single-loop course that begins at approximately 8,700 ft and travels above 9,500 ft. Climbs and descents are generally moderate for a mountain event. Four aid stations on course provide water, sports drink, and fruit. The half marathon has a time limit and requires racers to reach mile 9 by the event cutoff.

The 5K takes place mainly on dirt roads near the High Country Stampede Rodeo grounds. An aid station is available at the finish line.

Pricing is tiered for both distances:

• 13.1 miles: $65 before January 1; higher tiers apply later in the season.
• 3 miles: $45 before January 1; higher tiers apply later in the season.

All proceeds benefit the Shining Stars Foundation, which provides year-round programs at no cost to children and families affected by cancer. The event meets criteria set by the American Trail Running Association for safety, organization, and environmental awareness.

Packet pick-up is scheduled the evening before the race at Hideaway Park Brewery in Winter Park, with additional pick-up available on race morning at the start area.
