Byers Peak Stampede

The Byers Peak Stampede takes place in Fraser, Colorado, featuring a course set entirely on unpaved surfaces including dirt roads and trails. Located in the Rocky Mountains approximately one hour from Denver, the event offers 100% off-pavement running. The event is conducted in accordance with American Trail Running Association (ATRA) standards for safety and environmental consciousness.

Participants can choose from two primary distances:

  • 13.1 miles
  • 3 miles (5K)

The 13.1 miles half marathon is a single loop course that begins at an elevation of approximately 8,700 feet and ascends to over 9,500 feet. While the course travels through mountain terrain, the climbs and descents are described as mellow. There is a specific time limit for this distance, requiring participants to reach the 9-mile mark by 10:30 AM. Four aid stations are positioned along the route, providing water, sports drinks, and fruit.

The 3 miles 5K course is situated on dirt roads near the High Country Stampede Rodeo grounds, with an aid station available at the finish line. Both race distances utilize chip timing for results. Dogs are permitted to participate in the event provided they remain on a leash. All proceeds from the race are directed to the Shining Stars Foundation to support programs for children and families facing cancer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
