Byers Peak Stampede Half Marathon & 5K Run

The event takes place on Saturday, August 22, 2026 in Fraser, Colorado (1741 Co Hwy 73). It offers the following distances:

  • 5K

Both courses run on unpaved surfaces. The half marathon is almost entirely on dirt roads and trails and begins at about 8,700 ft, with portions traveling above 9,500 ft. The 5K course runs on dirt roads near the High Country Stampede Rodeo grounds. Dogs are allowed on leash.

Aid stations are provided. The half marathon course has multiple aid stations offering water, sports drink, and fruit. The 5K has an aid station at the finish. The half marathon has a course time limit that requires runners to reach mile 9 by 10:30 AM.

Logistics, pricing and charity

Packet pick-up and a pre-race gathering are scheduled for Friday, August 21 at Vicious Cycle Brewing in Fraser. Registration pricing varies by date: half marathon fees increase across four tiers ($65, $70, $80, $85) and 5K fees increase across four tiers ($45, $50, $60, $65). Grand County residents are eligible for a 10% local discount with proof of residency at check-in.
