The Stoop is a short fell race held on 21 December 2025 near Haworth, West Yorkshire. The senior race distance is 8 km (about 4.9 miles). It is the second race in the Woodentops Race Series and the senior event uses chip timing. The senior race is for over-16s and the event has an entry limit of 300.

Entry and prizes

Online entry for the senior race is listed at £9.00; entry on the day is listed at £10.00 if places remain. Team entries of three are free. All entrants receive a Santa hat and a Curly Wurly; free tea and coffee are available after the race. Prize giving is held outside the cricket hut after the race. Prize categories include first 10 men and first 10 ladies, top 3 vets in each age category, top 3 U21, spot prizes, and first men’s and ladies’ team (one prize per person). The prize list may be scaled back if fewer than 200 senior runners take part.

Course and facilities

The race starts from the quarry bottom at Penistone Hill Country Park and follows a route past Drop Farm, along a track to Harbour Lodge, across a beck, then up through heather to the Standing Stone (the Stoop). Runners return via boggy ground to the track and finish on the cricket pitch. Race headquarters is at the cricket hut, Penistone Hill Country Park. Facilities: toilets provided; no water stations, no distance markers, no changing rooms, no showers, and no baggage store. The race is not suitable for wheelchairs.
