The Rehab Rover Canicross and Trail Race
The event takes place on October 3, 2026 at the Veterinary Rehabilitation Services of Virginia campus in Gordonsville, VA. The site is an equine rehabilitation facility with trails and open areas used for running, walking, and hiking. Courses are described as technical trail running routes with uneven terrain, elevation changes, and natural features such as roots, rocks, mowed fields, shallow water crossings or bridges, and narrow paths. There are three water stations on course.
Offered distances and formats:
- 10 km Competitive canicross
- 5 km Competitive canicross
- 5 km Casual dog friendly run
- 5 km Virtual 5K
- 1.25 miles Bel-Mutt Stakes sprint
Races are chip timed with rolling starts and organized into groups to limit congestion. Canicross starts include two-dog start lines for competitive entries. Registered children under 15 must run with a registered adult. Dogs must be leashed and controlled in the parking and event areas under a no greet policy; reactive dogs will be directed to a separate parking area and muzzles may be used if necessary. Canine massage and additional therapies will be offered on site. A Finisher's Festival will take place near the historic Clifton House featuring a biergarten, food trucks, music, and a vendor village. Competitive classes offer placement awards by gender, masters, and junior categories; the dog friendly 5K will feature themed awards rather than placement prizes. Participants receive a logo race T-shirt and finisher medal, though T-shirt availability is limited for late registrants. Virtual entries have until October 30, 2026 to submit results.
