The Pendulum 2027
The Pendulum is an 11 mile fell race based in Langleeford that requires runners to summit Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot sequentially. The course includes approximately 3,689 ft of total climb and is limited to 200 entrants. Minimum age is 18 on the event date.
The event is organized by Northern Fell Running Events Ltd and is a timed race with race bibs supplied. The course is waymarked and supported by experienced marshals, a tail runner, and mountain rescue oversight. A water station is provided at the halfway point, and participants receive summit wristbands and a finisher medal. Organisers supply a GPX file of the route before the event.
A cut off of three hours is applied to reach the halfway point, defined as the ascent of The Cheviot and return; runners who meet that cut off may continue to Hedgehope. Trail shoes, waterproofs, a whistle, hat and gloves are recommended kit. Entry is managed through SiEntries and entries open on 1 August 2026 and close on 26 March 2027. The published entry fee is £31. Limited parking is available in the valley and the event village operates cash only. Participants may be filmed or photographed and images can be used for promotional purposes. The event may be postponed if snow or ice prevents access to the start location.
