The Pendulum 2027

The Pendulum Race in Langleeford is an 11 mile fell race that visits Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot in sequence. The course includes about 3689 ft of climb. The event is limited to 200 runners and the minimum age is 18. Entry fee is listed at £31.00 and entries open on 1 August 2026 and close on 26 March 2027.

The route is waymarked and marshalled, with a water station at the halfway point. The event is a timed race with race bibs and a finisher medal. Runners receive a bespoke wristband at the top of each summit and must show both wristbands at the finish to collect their medal. A GPX file of the route is supplied before race day.

Safety measures include oversight by mountain rescue, a tail runner for constant communication, and a stated cutoff of three hours to reach the halfway point (climb The Cheviot and return) for those who wish to continue to Hedgehope. Recommended kit includes trail shoes, waterproofs, a whistle, hat and gloves. The valley has limited parking and stalls in the event village will operate cash only because there is no mobile signal. The organiser is Northern Fell Running Events Ltd. The event may be postponed if snow or ice prevent access. Photography and filming may be used for promotional purposes. Dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
