The Pendulum 2027
The Pendulum is a fell race held in Langleeford on 27 March 2027. The course visits Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot sequentially, covering an 11-mile route with a total ascent of 3689 ft.
The event is limited to 200 runners and has a minimum entry age of 18. Entries are charged at £31 and the organiser is Northern Fell Running Events Ltd. The race is a timed event with race bibs, a finisher medal, and prizes for first, second and third placed men and women. Competitors receive a GPX file of the route before race day and a bespoke wristband from the top of each summit; both summit wristbands are shown at the finish to receive the medal.
The course is marshalled and supported by mountain rescue, with a tail runner and continuous communication for safety. There is a water station at the halfway point. A relaxed cutoff of three hours applies to reach the halfway point (climb The Cheviot and return) before continuing to Hedgehope.
On-site facilities include an Event Village with stalls operating cash only due to no signal in the valley. Parking in the valley is limited. If snow or ice prevents access to the start location the event will be postponed rather than cancelled. Participants may be filmed or photographed and images may be used for promotional purposes.
