The Pendulum 2027

The Pendulum is an 11 mile fell race based at Langleeford that traverses Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot in sequence. The course includes a total ascent of 3689 ft and is run on mountain trails and open ground.

The event is limited to 200 entrants and has a minimum age of 18 on the event date. Entries open 1 August 2026 and close 26 March 2027. The published entry fee is £31.00.

Safety and event support include experienced marshals, mountain rescue oversight, a tail runner with constant communication, and a water station at the halfway point. The race is timed and finishers receive a medal; prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers. Competitors receive a GPX file of the route in advance and will be given a bespoke wristband at the top of each summit to claim the finisher medal.

Organizers advise suitable kit such as trail shoes, waterproofs, a whistle, hat and gloves. The event runs an on site event village where stalls operate cash only due to limited signal in the valley. Parking in the valley is limited and car sharing is suggested. In the unlikely event that snow or ice prevents access to the start location the event will be postponed. Photography and filming may be used for promotional purposes. No dogs are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
