The Pendulum 2026

The Pendulum 2026 is a fell/trail running event on 22 March 2026 in Langleeford at the base of Hedgehope Hill and The Cheviot. The course is an 11-mile route that visits both peaks and includes approximately 3,689 ft of ascent. The event is organised by Northern Fell Running and Cheviot TRAIL Events and is classed as an outdoor, timed race with race bibs and finisher medals for participants.

Race details

The organisers state a cut off of three hours to reach the halfway point, which covers climbing The Cheviot and returning; runners who make that cut off may continue to Hedgehope. The course is described as marked and supported, with a water station at the halfway point and oversight from mountain rescue. Entrants will receive a GPX file of the route before the event. Trail shoes, waterproofs, a whistle, hat and gloves are recommended.

Entries and logistics

Entries open 3 April 2025 and close 20 March 2026. The minimum entry age is 18 and the published entry fee is £29. The event notes limited parking in the valley and suggests car sharing; event stalls will be cash only due to poor mobile signal. In the event of snow or ice preventing access to the start location, the event will be postponed rather than cancelled. Photography and filming may be used for promotional purposes and dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
