The Enchanted Ultra 50K

The Enchanted Ultra 50K is an off road endurance event in the Cheviot Hills, based at Wooler on 19 September 2026. The course covers 50 kilometres and requires competitors to navigate a digitally provided route using GPS equipment. Organisers provide a digital route map, a waterproof map and a GPS tracker as part of the entry package.

The route leaves Wooler via Humbleton Hill, joins St Cuthberts Way, passes the ancient hillfort of Yeavering Bell and reaches checkpoint 1 at Hethpool (about 10 miles). It continues through the College Valley to Mounthooley, passes close to Hen Hole, climbs around Cheviot and descends by the Harthope Burn to checkpoint 2 at Langleeford (about 22 miles). The return route includes Coldlaw and Snear Hill before finishing back at Wooler. The route description also references local myths such as fairies at Hen Hole and witches near Switcherback Cottage.

The event includes two fully stocked aid stations, marshals around the course, medical cover and a finish provision of soup and sandwiches plus a finisher medal and certificate. The published time limit for completion is 11 hours. Entry is restricted to competitors aged 18 or older; the published entry fee is £70. Photographs and film may be taken on the day and dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
