The Enchanted Ultra 50K

The Enchanted Ultra 50K is an ultra-marathon event set in the Cheviot Hills in Wooler. The course covers 50 km through remote and rugged terrain, including ancient forests, bogs, valleys, and open moorlands. Participants follow a digital route through landmarks such as Humbleton Hill, the St Cuthberts Way, and the Yeavering Bell hillfort.

The route consists of varied surfaces including grassy trails, rocky paths, and steep ascents and descents. The event begins at The Mart in Wooler and reaches its first checkpoint at Hethpool after 10 miles. Runners then proceed through the College Valley toward Mounthooley and climb the Cheviot, passing near the Hen Hole chasm. After descending via Harthope Burn, participants reach a second checkpoint at Langleeford at the 22-mile mark before returning to Wooler via Coldlaw, Snear Hill, and Earl.

Participants are required to navigate using a GPS device and must complete the course within an 11-hour time limit. The entry fee includes:

  • Soup and sandwiches at the finish

Registration takes place at 6:00 am on the day of the event. Medical cover and marshals are positioned along the course. No dogs are permitted at the event.
