Route, support and practical information

The route runs through the Cheviot Hills and is described as varied terrain, including rolling hills, steep ascents and descents, grassy trails, rocky paths, dense woodlands and open moorlands. Key route points include Humbleton Hill, St Cuthbert’s Way, Yeavering Bell, checkpoint 1 at Hethpool (about 10 miles), College Valley to Mounthooley, a climb up Cheviot passing close to Hen Hole, descent via Harthope Burn to checkpoint 2 at Langleeford (about 22 miles), and a return via Coldlaw and Snear Hill.

Navigation using a GPS device with a provided digital route is required. The entry fee includes a digital route map and waterproof map, a GPS tracker, marshals, medical cover, two stocked aid stations (noted to include real Coke), soup and sandwiches at the finish, a finisher’s medal and a certificate.
