The Enchanted Ultra 50K

The Enchanted Ultra is a 50K mountain ultramarathon scheduled for 19 September 2026 around Wooler and the Cheviot Hills in the United Kingdom. The course follows a recorded digital route and passes a sequence of local landmarks and historic features.

The route starts at The Mart in Wooler, goes over Humbleton Hill to join St Cuthberts Way, and continues past the ancient hillfort of Yeavering Bell. Competitors reach checkpoint 1 at Hethpool at about 10 miles, follow the College Valley to Mounthooley, pass close to Hen Hole and climb Cheviot. The descent follows the Harthope Burn toward checkpoint 2 at Langleeford, around 22 miles, with a return to Wooler via Coldlaw and Snear Hill. Local legends are referenced on the route, including accounts of fairies near Hen Hole and mentions of Switcherback Cottage.

The event has an 11 hour completion limit. Race services listed by the organiser include a digital route map and a waterproof map, a GPS tracker, marshals on the course, medical cover, two fully stocked aid stations with real Coke, finish-line soup and sandwiches, a finisher medal and a certificate. A 7.2 km hill race with 510 m of ascent across the three Eildon Hills, starting and finishing at Gibson Park, Melrose on 20 June 2026. Online entry only with early bird and standard prices and cash prizes for age category winners.

The Fellrunner at Windy Gyle is a rugged 13.7 km test with 549 m of climb across scenic Northumberland hills on Sun 21 Jun 2026. Entry on the day is welcome with modest fees for members and non members.

Trail Blazer Coastal Edition near Widdrington advertises a 10K course that runs closer to 12K along the Northumbrian coastal path. The day features live music, food vendors, drinks, llamas in a field, and no cut-off times.

A 20-mile unmarked upland race in Northumberland on 4 July 2026, with summits of Cheviot and Hedgehope, a separate Challenge Walk, mandatory navigation and kit requirements, and a 300-runner limit with a waiting list.
