The Enchanted Ultra 50K

The Enchanted Ultra is a 50K trail event through the Cheviot Hills, based at Wooler on 19 September 2026. The route uses a digital map and requires competitors to navigate with a GPS device; the published time limit for the course is 11 hours. Minimum age to enter is 18 and the published entry fee is £70. Entries open 17 October 2025 and close 31 August 2026.

The course leaves The Mart in Wooler, passes Humbleton Hill, joins St Cuthbert's Way and continues past the ancient hillfort of Yeavering Bell. Checkpoint 1 is at Hethpool, around 10 miles. The route follows College Valley to Mounthooley, passes close to Hen Hole, climbs to Cheviot and descends via Harthope Burn to checkpoint 2 at Langleeford, around 22 miles, before returning toward Wooler via Coldlaw and Snear Hill.

Organiser information notes medical cover and marshals will be provided, and participants receive a digital route map, a waterproof map, a GPS tracker, two fully stocked aid stations with real Coke, soup and sandwiches at the finish, a finisher’s medal and a certificate. The event statement warns of varied terrain and potentially severe weather and notes that participants may be filmed or photographed. Dogs are not allowed. The number of places is limited. A 7.2 km hill race with 510 m of ascent across the three Eildon Hills, starting and finishing at Gibson Park, Melrose on 20 June 2026. Online entry only with early bird and standard prices and cash prizes for age category winners.

The Fellrunner at Windy Gyle is a rugged 13.7 km test with 549 m of climb across scenic Northumberland hills on Sun 21 Jun 2026. Entry on the day is welcome with modest fees for members and non members.

Trail Blazer Coastal Edition near Widdrington advertises a 10K course that runs closer to 12K along the Northumbrian coastal path. The day features live music, food vendors, drinks, llamas in a field, and no cut-off times.

A traditional 20 miles mountain event near Wooler on 4 July 2026 with an optional Challenge Walk. The unmarked upland route includes Cheviot and Hedgehope and requires map and compass navigation.
