The Maze - Trail Roots Running
The Maze is a trail race held at Austin's Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park on Saturday, March 20, 2027. Registration opens November 2, 2026. Parking at the park is first come, first served near the WCMP trailhead; runners may be dropped off at the start and later-distance participants may walk from parking to the start area.
Distances offered:
- 10k 1 x 10k loop
- 20k 2 x 10k loop
- 30k 3 x 10k loop
Each loop has a published cX Rating for course difficulty. Aid stations are placed on course at approximately every 3 miles; the race prep guide lists how aid stations are supplied. All finishers receive an original MADE IN TEXAS medal and a post race meal; the bib also serves as the meal ticket. Awards are given to 1st through 3rd male and female overall and to 1st male and female masters age 50 and over.
This event is the second race of the Rogue Trail Series. Series finisher eligibility requires completing all three RTS races; each finisher receives a cX Score calculated as the runner's speed multiplied by the course cX Rating. Race plans are available in semi custom and fully customized formats, with fully customized plans including one to one virtual coaching. Volunteer roles require fitness and trail experience and participants must provide their own lodging and transportation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
