The Link Challenge 2026

The Link Challenge is a 20 mile trail run or hike based at Burrs Country Park in Bury. The route follows the Village Link and passes through the villages of Nangreaves, Holcombe, Hawkshaw, Affetside, Ainsworth and Greenmount, using trail paths, woodlands and open meadows.

The event is open to participants aged 18 or older. The published entry fee is £34. The organiser provides route links and GPX files in the week before the event. Friendly guides will accompany the route to offer support, and participants may also proceed independently. Dogs are not permitted.

Included provisions list a finisher Sunnywood neck gaiter, regular checkpoints with food and drink supplies, and secure car parking at the start and finish area. Route details are subject to change.

Participants must be self-sufficient with specified kit. Required items include waterproof jacket and trousers, a spare warm layer, hat and gloves, the ability to carry at least 1 litre of water and a reusable cup for aid stations, a fully charged mobile phone with navigation apps and a powerbank if needed, a map or Ordnance Survey 287, compass, whistle, survival blanket or bag, a basic first aid kit and personal medicines, suitable trail shoes or boots, personal food, and a head torch or other light source. A winter waymarked trail challenge from Barley that follows the Pendle Way with a full ~45 mile course or a ~30 mile alternative, running over moorland and villages with multiple checkpoints and required winter kit.

A 75 mile NAV4 event from Skipton to Appleby over a two day weekend following Lady Anne’s Way, with tracked safety, three main indoor checkpoints, a drop bag system and self supported participation.

A long BL fell race around Wadsworth with navigational sections and mandatory FRA kit. The route is about 19.3 miles (31 km) with 1110 m ascent. Pre entry closes 6 February 2026 and very limited places may be available on the day.

A winter fell race from the Rams Head Inn across moorland and the Pennine Way, roughly 12 miles with 2100 feet of ascent. Checkpoints provide basic supplies and full FRA winter kit is required.
