The Hardmoors 15 is a circular trail event of approximately 17.5 miles, starting and finishing at Robin Hood's Bay. The course has about 1,700 ft (518 m) of ascent and a total time limit of eight hours. Entry is limited to 150 places. Entry fees are listed as £45 attached and £47 unattached. One pound from each entry is donated to the Cleveland Way National Trail. Dogs are not allowed.

Route and checkpoints

The race is based at Fylingdales Village Hall, Robin Hood's Bay YO22 4RP. The route uses local trails including the Cinder Track and the Cleveland Way and returns to the start. Checkpoints are located at Ravenscar (Station Road) at about 4.5 miles and again at about 12.5 miles, and at Hayburn Wyke at about 8 miles. Each checkpoint provides food, water and coke. Participants must register with marshals at each checkpoint and carry a route description or map while on course.

Rules, kit and logistics

Mandatory kit must be carried for the duration of the event and includes hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket with taped seams, at least 500 ml of drink, whistle, map and route description, survival bag, foil blanket, mobile phone and a cup for aid stations. No cash refunds are given for weather cancellations; organisers may offer an entry for another Hardmoors race or a transfer to a future event.
