The Guv'nor Frozen 50 : Governor Dodge State Park, Dodgeville WI

The event takes place on December 5, 2026 at Governor Dodge State Park, Twin Valley Picnic Area, Dodgeville, WI. Distance options are offered as follows:

  • 50K
  • 25K
  • 15K

Course surfaces include horse trail, dirt single and double track, and prairie path. Standard course layouts: the 50K is 31.4 miles over two loops with about 4,475 ft of elevation gain; the 25K is 15.8 miles (one loop, ~2,276 ft gain); the 15K is 9.3 miles (one loop, ~1,282 ft gain). A snow course may be used if access is restricted; that plan shifts to multiple shorter loops (one loop ~7.8 miles) with revised elevation figures.

Aid support is provided at named locations including Cox Hollow, Ranger Station, Horse Camp and Twin Valley. Aid stations are stocked with water, Skratch Labs hydration, soda, gels, electrolyte products, snacks and hot food options at some stations. The race is cup-less; participants must carry their own hydration vessel. Horse Camp may become a self-serve aid station if vehicle access is limited by snow.

Rules include mandatory check-in at every aid station, no littering (littering results in DNF), and course-cutting penalties. Pacers and crewing are permitted only for the 50K with designated crew spaces at Twin Valley and Cox Hollow. Because hunting occurs in the park during the event, highly visible orange clothing is requested. Event and medical staff may remove a participant for safety reasons; the organizer may alter or cancel the event for severe weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
