Arena, United States • 16 May 2026
Event overview
Rumble on the Ridge is a Last Person Standing (Backyard Ultra) event held on May 16, 2026, on a family farm in Arena, Wisconsin (5749 County Road H). The field is capped at 75 participants. The race continues until only one runner has completed every loop within the allowed cutoff; a solo victory lap is required to earn the win. The event donates $0.10 per lap completed to support the planned Driftless Trail.
Course and format
Participants run repeated loops on "The Drifty Mile." Course details are changed each year and are not published until race morning. Known course parameters:
- Loop length: 1.0–1.25 miles
- Elevation gain: 250–300 ft per loop
- Terrain: mix of gravel access road, single- and double-track dirt, and prairie paths
A new loop begins every 20 minutes; runners who finish a loop after the 20-minute cutoff are eliminated. The route reverses direction every four hours. Poles are permitted after four hours. Running lights are required beginning at lap 36.
Logistics and services
The old barnyard serves as basecamp with the start corral, crew tent area, aid station, spectator viewing, and portable restrooms. Crew tent spaces are limited (35 spots) and must be reserved; a large shared participant tent is available for drop bags. The aid station offers fruit, snacks, hot food, and hydration products. Camping on the farm is allowed Saturday night only and is limited to tents or small camper vans. Registration is final with no refunds or deferrals; transfers and a waitlist are addressed per event policy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
