Rumble on the Ridge

Arena, United States • 16 May 2026

Event overview

Rumble on the Ridge is a Last Person Standing backyard ultra held on a family dairy farm near Arena, Wisconsin (5749 County Rd H). Participants run repeated laps of "The Drifty Mile" on a loop that is between 1–1.25 miles long with approximately 250–300 ft of elevation gain per loop. The course mixes gravel access road, dirt single and double track, and prairie paths. The route is changed each year and the direction reverses every four hours. The event continues until only one runner has completed every loop within the time limit; a solo victory lap must be completed to earn the win. The venue has a maximum capacity of 75 participants and 35 crew tent spaces.

Course, logistics and rules

Basecamp is the barnyard area, which contains the starting corral, crew tent area, aid station, portable restrooms, and spectator viewing. On-site camping is allowed for Saturday night only and is limited to tents or small camper vans; no RVs or pull-behinds. The aid station offers fruit, sweet and salty snacks, hot food, and hydration and nutrition products. All participants receive a soft-blend event t-shirt and a DNF award; there are separate awards for the 24 Hour Club and the 100 Mile Club.

Each lap must be completed within 20 minutes; runners who finish after the limit are eliminated. All runners start each lap together and must be in the starting corral at the lap start. No aid may be accepted while on the course; any aid must be carried or provided in the designated crew area. Poles are permitted after four hours. The organizer will donate $0.10 for every lap completed to the Driftless Trail project. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
