Rumble on the Ridge

Arena, United States • 16 May 2026

Event

Rumble on the Ridge is a Last Person Standing backyard-ultra style race held on May 16, 2026, near Arena, Wisconsin (5749 County Rd H). Participants run repeated laps of a short loop and the event continues until only one person has completed every lap within the time limit. The event has a maximum field of 75 participants and a limited number of crew tent spaces (35) at the barnyard basecamp.

Course and logistics

The course, called "The Drifty Mile," is a loop of about 1-1.25 miles with roughly 250-300 ft of elevation gain per lap. Terrain mixes gravel access road, single- and double-track dirt trails, and prairie path. The route is changed each year and the direction reverses every four hours. Participants must complete each lap within a 20-minute interval; runners who finish a lap after that limit are eliminated. No aid may be accepted while on the course; any support must be carried or provided in the designated crew area at basecamp. Poles are allowed after four hours. A solo victory lap is required to earn the win; if no one completes the final lap under the limit, there will be no winner for that year.

Basecamp includes crew tent areas, a participant tent for drop bags, an aid station with food and drinks, and portable restrooms. Camping on the farm is permitted for Saturday night only and is limited to tents or small camper vans. The organizer donates $0.10 per lap to the Driftless Trail project.
