Rumble on the Ridge
Rumble on the Ridge is a Last Person Standing ultrarun held on an old family dairy farm near Arena, WI on May 16, 2026. Participants run repeated laps of "The Drifty Mile," a loop that changes each year and whose exact layout is published the morning of the event. The course reverses direction every four hours.
Each lap is approximately 1 to 1.25 miles with roughly 250 to 300 ft of elevation gain. Terrain includes gravel access road, single and double track dirt, and prairie paths. A new lap begins every 20 minutes; runners must complete each lap within that time to remain in the race. The final winner is the last runner to complete every lap within the time limit and must complete a solo victory lap; if no one completes the final lap, no winner is declared.
The old barnyard serves as basecamp with the start corral, crew tent area, aid station, restrooms, and spectator viewing. Crew tent spaces are limited and are reserved in advance. No aid may be accepted on course; aid must be carried or provided in the designated crew area. Poles are allowed after four hours. A numbered tag must be worn at all times and a running light is required when laps continue after dark.
The event donates $0.10 per completed lap to support the Driftless Trail project. Camping on the farm is allowed Saturday night only and is limited to tents or camper vans without hookups. Participants receive a soft blend event t-shirt, a DNF award, and are eligible for 24 Hour Club and 100 Mile Club awards when qualified.
