Run The Hawk Trail Run

Run The Hawk takes place at Blackhawk Ski Club in Middleton, WI. The event centers on lap-based trail running with multi-hour time categories and a shorter fun run. The primary loop measures 2.25 miles and has roughly 345 feet of elevation gain per lap.

  • 3, 6 and 12 hour challenges
  • Fun Run : 1.7 miles

The main course combines grass paths, dirt single track and access paths. It includes one major climb of about 150 feet with steep sections, plus flatter stretches. Notable on-course features include tall pines, a natural spring pool with a rope swing, passage beneath the ski jump, and the climb up Leonard's Way. The Fun Run follows a 1.7 mile route with about 240 feet of elevation and includes many of the same highlights with only one hill climb.

Support is provided at a central checkpoint with one aid station per loop offering sweet and salty items, fruit and hydration. The event is cupless so participants must carry their own vessel. A drop bag tent and restrooms are available at the start/checkpoint area and additional restrooms are located on course. Ski patrol is listed as medical support.

Relay teams may include 2 to 4 runners and each team member must complete at least one lap. A reserved 10 by 10 foot tent space is provided for teams; solo runners can reserve space during registration. Pacers are not allowed on course and support is restricted to the designated crewing area.

Awards recognize top overall male, female and non-binary finishers in each time category and top overall teams in relays. The organizer offers a 75 percent credit for cancellations made 60 or more days before the event; registrations within 60 days are final. Transfers between individuals and distance changes are allowed under the event's stated policies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
