Middleton, United States • 22 Aug 2026

Event Overview

The Run the Hawk Trail Runs take place at the historic Blackhawk Ski Club in Middleton, Wisconsin. The event features timed endurance challenges and a shorter fun run on a scenic ski hill.

Distances and Format

Participants can choose from several timed events:

  • 12-Hour Solo or 12-Hour Relay (teams of 2-4)
  • 6-Hour Solo or 6-Hour Relay (teams of 2-4)
  • 3-Hour Solo or 3-Hour Relay (teams of 2-4)
  • Fun Run (1.7 miles)

The goal for the timed events is to complete as many laps as possible on a looped course within the designated time. Every relay team member must run at least one lap.

Course Details

The main looped course for the timed events is 2.25 miles long with approximately 367 feet of elevation gain per loop. It includes grass paths, dirt single track, and access paths, featuring one major climb with a 22% grade. The course passes under a 60-meter ski jump and by a natural spring pool.

The Fun Run course is 1.7 miles long with 240 feet of total elevation. It includes many of the same features as the main course but with only one hill climb.

Event Amenities

Participants receive a custom soft-blend race shirt, a unique finisher award, and post-race food and treats. Live music is provided. The event is cupless, so runners must provide their own hydration vessel.

On-Site Support

There is one aid station per loop with sweet and salty items, fruit, and hydration. A drop bag tent and restrooms are available in the checkpoint area. Medical support is provided by ski patrol. A designated area is available for crew, team, and individual tents; solo runners must reserve a space during registration.

Awards

Awards are given to the top overall male, female, and non-binary participant in each timed category (3, 6, and 12 hours). The top overall team in each timed relay category also receives an award.

Registration closes on the Wednesday before the event. A 75% credit is offered for cancellations made more than 60 days prior to race day; registrations within 60 days are final.
