Course, aid stations and logistics
All courses run on smooth single- and double-track trail through rolling meadows and granite features. The 100 mile course is looped: six 14.8 mile loops and one 10.5 mile loop. Elevation range is 9,189 to 9,743 feet. Total elevation gain listed for the 100 mile is 16,071 feet; the 100k is 8,500 feet, the 50k is 4,200 feet, and the 25k is 2,100 feet.
Aid stations are spaced about 4.3 to 6.1 miles apart, are crew accessible and allow drop bags. Stations will stock Tailwind, Muir Energy Gels, snacks, fruit and soda; some stations will offer hot food options. The 100 mile event has a 36-hour cutoff. Crew access is allowed at the Livery and Hart-Lee Homestead aid stations; pacing rules allow pacers for the 100k (last lap or after sunset) and for the 100 mile (from mile 44.4). Parking for 50k and 25k runners is at John Wesley Ranch with shuttle service to the start/finish; parking for the 100 mile/100k is at the Livery and nearby lots. The organizers note variable spring weather and advise preparing for colder overnight conditions and possible rain or snow. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
