The DCRO Dash

The DCRO Dash is a fund-raising fell race held on Wednesday 17 June 2026 in the upland country south west of Castleton in the Peak District of Derbyshire. The event is based at Speedwell Cavern car park, Castleton, and runs over terrain between the moors of the Dark Peak and the valleys of the White Peak.

The course distance is approximately 8.5 km with a total ascent of about 370 m. The race is run under FRA rules and is listed as FRA Race Category BS. The minimum entry age is 18 years.

Full FRA kit is required; runners must carry the specified items (for example waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, hat and gloves) and will not be allowed to race without the required kit. Navigation and safety arrangements note old mining areas on the route; the course is at least partially flagged and is marshalled, and it is important that all runners follow the flagged route. GPS navigation devices are not permitted for FRA races, though carrying a GPS to record the route for later review is allowed.

Pre-entry is available and is strongly recommended; the race has a limit of 200 entries and some places may be held for entry on the day. Teams are permitted. No dogs are allowed on the course and spectators’ dogs must be on a leash. The event holds a permit and associated FRA insurance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
