The DCRO Dash

The DCRO Dash is a fast, tough race over the hills south-west of Castleton in the Peak District, organised as a major fund-raiser for Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation. The route crosses upland country positioned between the moors of the Dark Peak and the valleys of the White Peak and passes near several significant cave venues.

The race is run under FRA rules and is listed as FRA Race Category BS. Course details given by the organiser include a distance of 8.5 km and a total ascent of 370 m. The route is partially flagged and is marshalled; because it passes through several old mining areas, it is important that runners follow the flagged route.

Minimum age for entry is 18 years. Entry arrangements include a pre-entry fee of £6 and an on-the-day entry fee of £6.50, with a race limit of 200 competitors. Riders or entrants should note that GPS navigational devices are not permitted for navigation in FRA races, although devices may be carried to record a route for later review. Race rules require full FRA kit, including a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, hat and gloves, and participants may be required to carry or wear kit if conditions dictate. No dogs are allowed on the race course; spectators must keep dogs on a leash. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
