The Thurlstone Chase is a BS category fell race organised by Penistone Footpath Runners. The race is held at Thurlstone Football Club, High Bank Lane, Thurlstone (grid ref SE226036, postcode S36 9PS). The event is run under licence from the Fell Runners Association and has associated UK Athletics insurance. The race is now held as an evening event.

Course and facilities

The course is a single lap of fell terrain. Distance: 4.2 miles (6.75 km) with approximately 500 ft (150 m) of ascent. Race headquarters are on the gala/football field and car parking is available in the start field. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs. There are no water stations, no distance markers, no toilets, no changing facilities, no showers and no baggage store.

Entry and prizes

Pre-entry opens in January 2026 and entry on the day is also available. The entry fee is £6 and the minimum age to enter is 16 on the day. There is an entry limit of 150 places. Prizes are offered to the first three men and the first three women, then to first finishers in five-year age categories from V40 upwards.
