Lee Mill Fell Race

Lee Mill Fell Race

The Lee Mill Fell Race is the first event in the Mid-Week Series. It starts in Stubbylee Park, Bacup, and follows a route through Lee Mill Quarry and the old quarry whose stone was used in Trafalgar Square in London.

The course moves quickly onto the moor and includes a long climb that crosses Rooley Moor Road before reaching the Top of Leach. Runners pass open moorland with views across Manchester and then follow a long, fast descent that passes known boggy sections on the way toward Cowm Reservoir. A final steep ascent precedes a return through Lee Mill Quarry to the finish.

Distance is 10.7 km / 6.4 miles with a climb of 362 m / 1186 ft, and the race is categorised as BM. The route will be well flagged, but competitors are responsible for following the route and for their own safety. Entry cost is £5, payable by cash or card, and the minimum age is 18. The event uses the same route as the Lee Mill relays held later in the year, which are organised separately. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
