The Bishop's Stortford Mitre is a road race organised by The Bishop's Stortford High School and sponsored by Nockolds Solicitors. It takes place on 5 July 2026 at Jobbers Wood, Great Hadham Road, Much Hadham, Herts SG10 6FB. The event is a community fundraiser for The Mitre Fund, with proceeds directed to new school community sports facilities.

The 10K and 5K courses are professionally measured and chip timed. Races are held on traffic-free roads through East Hertfordshire villages, on a circuit from Jobbers Wood to Much Hadham and back. Race amenities include a specially designed free finisher's T-shirt for all runners or, alternatively, the option to have a tree planted in the runner’s name, an organised warm-up, refreshments and free parking on site.

Awards include trophies for the top three women and men, age-category winners (first over 40, 50 and 60 for women and men) and Best Running Club Team for 5K and 10K based on the fastest two women’s and two men’s times from the same club. Join the Essex Winter Midweek Series No 7 in Chelmsford for a fun, map based night run using MapRun, with short and long courses to suit different paces. Meet at The Rising Sun, bring a head torch and enjoy post run pub facilities.

Join the Dark Horse Trail on 21 January 2026 for a 5 mile self navigated run around Galleywood Common, starting and finishing at the Horse and Groom pub. Limited to 60 places, entry includes a sausage or veggie burger with chips.

Dark Rose is a 5.5 mile trail race around Great Waltham with a small 75 runner field and self navigation route given on the day. Finish back at the Rose and Crown for a hearty cottage pie or vegetable lasagne.

Midweek street orienteering in the Essex Winter Series with 60 or 40 minute score courses across streets and open fields. Use MapRun with an Anytime catch up and earn bonus points for running on the night; bring a torch.
