The Muntjac 15 is a trail race held around Danbury, Essex with a distance of 15 miles and over 1600 ft of elevation. The route links five different woodland areas and includes steep ascents, winding downhills and technical singletrack sections. The course is fully marked and a GPX file is available. There will be one checkpoint roughly halfway that is described as well stocked, with vegan options and separate markings for dietary requirements. All runners receive a quality memento and locally made bespoke trophies are awarded.

Course, logistics and rules

Race HQ is at Dawson Field, Main Road, Danbury, Chelmsford, CM3 4NQ. There is ample free parking on site and a secure bag drop is available. Organisers recommend familiarising with the route or using the GPX on the day. Apart from a mobile phone with the HQ number stored, no mandatory kit is required. The event is cupless. Crewing and pacing are not allowed. Participants are asked to respect other footpath users and to keep any litter with them.

Prizes and special competitions

Open category winners receive £50, runners-up £25 and third place £15. A £100 bonus is offered for a new course record. There is a marked Strava section of roughly 1 km; the fastest male and female on that segment win a special prize but those who finish in the top three overall in either category are not eligible. A 5K self navigational trail run at Nuclear Essex on 14 February supporting the British Heart Foundation. Participants follow a checkpoint route, are asked to wear something red and receive hot chocolate and Jammie Dodgers at the finish.

Rayne'ing Medals Anniversary at Rayne Station on 15 February 2026 offers 5km to marathon options plus a 6 hour challenge on traffic-free 5.3km loops, aid stations each lap and a choice of bespoke medals.

A roughly 42 mile trail ultra along the historic St Peters Way from Chipping Ongar to the ancient chapel at Bradwell on Sea. The route uses footpaths and bridleways, has four staffed checkpoints and strict compulsory kit requirements.

A one lap, off road 10k at Hadleigh Country Park featuring hilly, muddy trails and kissing gates. The event includes an elite wave, route marshals, a bespoke medal and free race photographs.
