Teenager with Altitude Fell Race

The Teenager with Altitude is a fell running event held in the Lake District, starting and finishing at the Newlands Adventure Centre near Stair, Keswick. The course follows the Newlands Valley Horseshoe, a route that involves a significant amount of ascent and traverses exposed terrain. The event is classified as a Category AL race, indicating it is a long fell race with a high ratio of climbing relative to the distance.

The course features the following distance and elevation:

Participants must navigate across several significant landmarks and checkpoints, including Causey Pike, Outerside, Grasmoor, Whiteless Pike, Robinson, Hindscarth, Dale Head, High Spy, and Cat Bells. Specific cut-off times are enforced at Newlands Hause and Dale Head to ensure safety.

Safety requirements are strictly managed according to Fell Runners Association standards. All participants must carry specific mandatory kit, which includes a waterproof jacket and trousers, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle, and emergency food. A full kit check is conducted during the registration process.

The event has a maximum entry limit of 350 participants and is open to runners aged 18 and over. While pre-registration is required, there is no entry available on the day. Amenities include a post-race half pint of beer, tea, and coffee, with the option to order hot food during the entry process. Parking is available in a field near the venue for a set fee. The Muncaster Luck is a challenging 15km fell race with 620m of ascent over rough terrain. Entry is on the day for £5 cash. Runners must carry full mandatory kit and be prepared for tricky navigation and two river crossings.

Jarrett's Jaunt is a Lake District fell race from Wath Brow Bridge, with rugged trails, steep climbs and great views. About 9 km with 440 m ascent, the handicap format gives a fun competitive test and pre entry is required.
