Event Overview

OMM Lite is a navigation-based trail event in Grasmere, Lake District. Participants are given a map with 30 checkpoints placed around the valley. The objective is to find as many checkpoints as possible within a set time limit and return to the event headquarters. The team or individual with the most points wins. Participation can be done by running or walking.

Course Options

Participants can choose from different formats.

  • Event Duration: A one-day or two-day option. Two-day participants return to Grasmere after day one and go out again on day two.
  • Course Length: A Long Course (time limit: Saturday 7 hours, Sunday 5 hours) or a Short Course (time limit: Saturday 5 hours, Sunday 4 hours).
  • Team Format: Competitors can enter as an individual or as a team of two or three. Teams must stay within talking distance of each other at all times.

Logistics and Requirements

The event uses Harvey 1:25000 maps, which are provided. Each checkpoint has an orange and white sign with a control box; participants use a provided timing tag to register their visit. A detailed mandatory kit list includes items like a waterproof jacket, warm layer, hat, gloves, trail footwear, compass, whistle, map, first aid equipment, emergency food, and a fully charged mobile phone. Random kit checks may occur during the event.
