Survival of the Fittest

This trail running event takes place on the Squamish trail network in British Columbia. The start and finish are located on the Capilano University campus, on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Squamish Nation.

Available distances

  • 18 km (1050 m of ascent)
  • 35 km (1650 m of ascent)
  • Kids Race (approx. 1 km, untimed)

The loop course includes a mix of climbing, descending, runnable, and technical sections. Runners traverse local trails such as Legacy, Megacy, STP, and Blaine's Connector, and cross two bridges named Darwin's and Carpenter's Son. Both distances offer views of the Tantalus Mountain Range.

The event is cup-free: participants must bring their own cup. Trekking poles are not allowed. An unsupervised bag check is available. There is one aid station for the 18 km race and three for the 35 km. Time cutoffs are enforced.

The kids' race is free and non-competitive, with special bibs. An option to donate to the Butterfly Support Network is offered during registration. General registration includes a donation to local search and rescue and one planted tree. Post-race provisions include sushi and massage.
