Summit North Trail Run

Duluth, United States • 14-15 Aug 2026

Event overview

The Summit North Trail Runs take place August 14-15, 2026 at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minnesota. The event uses trails in West Duluth, including sections of the Superior Hiking Trail. Courses include rocky and rooty singletrack, smooth gravel, steep climbs and descents, and a feature called Ely’s Tunnel on the Forest Track course.

Sign-up opens in February 2026 and registration is online only. Youth pricing is available for all Saturday races for participants up to 21 years old.

Race details and logistics

The event offers multiple race options:

  • Forest Track Heavy Half Marathon
  • The Creeks ~8 Mile
  • Mountain Lap 5K
  • Hill Climb & Descent
  • Kids Trail Run

The Forest Track has the most technical terrain, with a steep ascent of Ely’s Peak where runners may use their hands to scramble over boulders. Aid stations will be staffed and stocked, but the event is cupless: runners must carry their own cup or bottle. The event follows Trail Sisters Approved Standards, which include equal podiums and awards, women’s specific apparel and swag, menstrual products at aid stations, women on the starting line, and a pregnancy and postpartum policy. Bib pick-up and event operations are based at Spirit Mountain, Grand Avenue Chalet. Weather in August is usually warm, with average highs in the mid-70s and lows around 60 degrees.
