Suffolk Coastal Path 50K

The Suffolk Coastal Path 50K is a 50 kilometre point to point trail ultramarathon held on 12 September 2026. The race runs along the Suffolk coast from Lowestoft to Aldeburgh with a total elevation gain of about 120 metres and an overall nine hour time limit. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is a UTMB World Series index race.

The course is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons, and marshals are placed at road crossings and busier sections. The first 20 km uses a mix of hard paths, quiet country lanes and trail sections. After Reydon the route continues through Southwold, around the River Blyth estuary and along moorland and forest paths toward Dunwich. The later stages pass Dunwich Heath and the edge of RSPB Minsmere, then follow coastal trails through Sizewell and Thorpeness before finishing at Moot Hall in Aldeburgh.

There are four aid stations at Benacre (13 km), Reydon (23.3 km), Dunwich Church (35.1 km) and Sizewell (44.2 km). Aid station supplies include water, cola, electrolyte drinks, gels and chews, snacks, sandwiches, flapjacks and fresh fruit. Toilets are available at several checkpoints and public facilities along the route.

Required kit includes a mobile phone with the route saved, a route map on watch or phone, a refillable hydration system (minimum 0.5 litres recommended 1 litre), a soft cup, a light jacket or emergency blanket and payment method. Entry is open to runners aged 20 and over and fees are published for affiliated and unaffiliated entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
