Event overview
The Suffolk Coastal Path 50K is a point-to-point ultramarathon of 50K along the Suffolk coast, starting in Lowestoft and finishing on the seafront in Aldeburgh. The next edition is scheduled for 12 September 2026. Entry fee is £75 (£73 for UKA affiliated runners). The race is held under a TRA licence (7678) and UKA rules, carries a UTMB World Series index, and has a minimum entry age of 20. There is an overall time limit of 9 hours. Facilities at the event include chip timing with live results, a finishers medal, bag drop, course-wide medical support and marshalling.
Route, aid stations and logistics
The route runs south from Lowestoft via Southwold and Dunwich to Aldeburgh. The course is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons; marshals and course checkers will assist at road crossings and busier sections. Runners are asked to carry a digital version of the route on a watch or phone as a backup.
There are four aid stations:
- Benacre : 13 km
- Reydon : 23.3 km (toilet)
- Dunwich Church : 35.1 km
- Sizewell : 44.2 km (toilet)
Aid station supplies include water, soda, pre-mixed electrolyte drink from Precision Fuel & Hydration, gels and chews, crisps and sweets, Chia Charge mini flapjacks and fresh fruit (banana, orange, watermelon). Portable toilets are provided at the start, fixed toilets at the finish, and toilets are available at or near checkpoints and at public locations along the route.
A coach transfer between finish and start is available (recommended for those parking at the finish). Required kit includes a mobile phone, route map on watch or phone, refillable hydration (0.5 L minimum, 1 L recommended), a soft/collapsible cup, light jacket or emergency blanket, cash or bank card, and seasonal hat or gloves / sun hat.
