Suffolk Coastal Path 50K
The Suffolk Coastal Path 50K is a point to point ultra marathon trail race along the Suffolk coast, running from Lowestoft to Aldeburgh. The 2027 edition is the sixth running of the event and takes place on 11 September 2027. The course covers 50K with approximately 150 m of ascent and is fully marked for navigation.
The route starts at Kensington Gardens in Lowestoft and finishes at Moot Hall in Aldeburgh. It passes through Reydon and Southwold, skirts the River Blyth estuary, continues toward Dunwich via moorland and forest tracks, runs beside Dunwich Heath and the edge of RSPB Minsmere, and follows coastal trails past Sizewell and Thorpeness to the seafront finish. Navigation is supported by orange markers, ribbons and marshals at key points; runners are asked to carry a digital route on a watch or phone as a backup.
There are four aid stations at 12.3 km, 21.1 km, 32.9 km and 45.2 km offering water, soft drinks, Precision Fuel & Hydration products, gels, chews, snacks, sandwiches from CP2 onward and fresh fruit. Toilets are provided at all checkpoints and there are additional public facilities along the route.
Entry is open to runners aged 20 and over with no qualification required. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association, held under UKA rules and is an indexed UTMB World Series race. A nine hour overall time limit applies. Required equipment includes a mobile phone, route map on watch or phone, at least 0.5 L of refillable hydration, a soft cup, and a light jacket or emergency blanket.
