Event Overview

The Suffolk Coastal Path 50K is a point-to-point ultra marathon trail run. The 2026 edition is scheduled for the 12th of September. Runners will follow the Suffolk Coastal Path from Lowestoft to Aldeburgh.

Route Details

The race starts at Kensington Gardens in Lowestoft and finishes at the Moot Hall in Aldeburgh. The route is 50 kilometers long with approximately 120 meters of elevation gain. The course is fully marked with orange arrows and ribbons. The terrain is a mixture of hard paths, quiet country lanes, scenic trails, moorland, forest paths, and coastal trails. The route passes through or near Southwold, Dunwich Heath (National Trust), RSPB Minsmere, Sizewell, and Thorpeness. The event has a 9-hour time limit.

Aid Stations & Facilities

There are four aid stations located at approximately 13 km, 23.3 km, 35.1 km, and 44.2 km. Each provides water, cola, electrolyte drinks, gels, chews, crisps, sweets, sandwiches, flapjacks, biscuits, and fresh fruit. Toilets are available at Checkpoints 2, 3, and 4, with additional public facilities along the route. A coach transfer service between the start and finish is available as an add-on.

Requirements & Entry

Entry costs £75 (£73 for UKA-affiliated runners). Participants must be 20 years or older. Registration includes a finisher's medal, chip timing, aid stations, medical support, and a bag drop. The event is permitted by the TRA (License 7678). Dogs are not permitted.

Mandatory Kit

Runners must carry a mobile phone, a route map on a device, a refillable hydration system (minimum 0.5L), a soft/collapsible cup, a light jacket or emergency blanket, and cash or a bank card.
