Stanhope Trail Races : event overview
The Stanhope Trail Races take place in Stanhope, County Durham, with venue at Stanhope Showground, Unthank Park, DL13 2PQ. The event is run by Greener Miles Running and uses routes within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and UNESCO Global Geopark. Entry minimum age is 16 years. The event offers waymarked and marshalled routes, medical cover, feed stations, hot food and snacks at the finish, and a bespoke memento and wildflower seeds for participants. Parking is planned at the show ground with additional parking in Stanhope town centre if needed.

Distances offered:
- 10k (about 7 miles, 1200 ft elevation)
- Half-marathon (about 14.6 miles, 1887 ft elevation)
Routes start and finish in Stanhope and include open moorland, fields, steep lanes, single-track woodland paths, and sections of the Stanhope fell race route. Terrain includes hard packed gravel shooting tracks, sheep trods and muddy woodland trails; trail shoes are recommended. Feed stations are located at approximately 4.5 miles and 9 miles on the longer course. Mandatory kit requirements include a foil blanket and mobile phone for all entrants; half-marathon entrants are required to carry an additional warm base layer, waterproof jacket, emergency snack, hat and gloves.
