Distances

  • 10k (7 miles, 1200 ft ascent)
  • Half-marathon (14.6 miles, 1887 ft ascent)

Course and terrain

Both races start and finish in Stanhope. Routes go onto open moorland, single-track woodland paths and gravel access tracks. Terrain includes hard-packed gravel shooting tracks, sheep trods and muddy woodland trails. The 10k route descends via the Stanhope fell race route and returns along woodland single-track, passing a waterfall. The half-marathon continues onto moorland, passing Parkhead Station cafe and the old winding station at Bolt’s Law before rejoining the 10k route.

Logistics and kit

Feed stations are available on course. The event is fully waymarked and marshalled and provides medical cover and hot food at the showground after the race. Parking is at the showground with additional town-centre parking if needed. Mandatory kit guidance includes full body cover, emergency blanket/survival bag, food and water; the half-marathon also advises an extra warm base layer, waterproof jacket, hat, gloves and emergency snack.

Environmental information

The organiser aims to reduce single-use plastic. Runners receive an event mug and a packet of mixed wildflower seeds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
